Allentown Central Catholic High School is partnering with DeSales University to provide students with college credits at no cost.

ACCHS Principal Randy Rice and Father James J. Greenfield, OSFS ‘84, president of DeSales, signed the agreement Oct. 3. Students will receive college credit for courses in anatomy and physiology, forensic science, honors calculus, honors economics, honors English 4 and honors theology 4.

The Viking Nation celebrated Homecoming Oct. 12.

Spirit Week kicked off the celebration with dress down days throughout the week. These included pajama day, jersey day, safari day and spirit day. A pep rally was held Oct. 10. Students were given the day off of school Oct. 11 to prep for the Homecoming Dance that evening.

New Viking spirit banners were hung in the Viking Dining Hall of Champions. This gives the ACCHS cafeteria a fresh new look.

The ACCHS pep club sponsored a Pink Out Oct. 4 to support the football team and the fight against breast cancer. The game was played against the Emmaus High School Hornets. The Vikings defeated the Hornets 35-17. Congratulations Vikings!

The ACCHS football team was out in full force to support those participating in the Women’s 5K Classic Race/Walk at Lehigh Parkway.

ACCHS’s cross country team also volunteered.

The junior varsity volleyball team recently won the Cumberland Valley Tournament. They went 12-1 and came in first place. The varsity girls volleyball team will compete against EHS for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference title. Girls volleyball senior night was held Oct. 7.

ACCHS will hold a fall festival 3-6:30 p.m. Oct. 19. The festival will be held across from the J. Birney Crum Stadium on Linden Street and will include food trucks, alumni and Viking spirit wear, balloons by Cindy, carnival games, face painting, photos with the Viking and Vikette, raffle baskets and more. The Vikings will challenge Freedom High School 7 p.m. Oct. 19. There will be free admission to the football game for all partner school students.

An open house will be held at Allentown Central Catholic High School 2-4 p.m. Nov. 3. People who attend will have a chance to tour the school, meet teachers, talk with students and learn about clubs, athletics and activities offered.
