Every year, Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association puts on its fundraiser, Fest O’ Fall, on the first Saturday of October. This year’s outing Oct. 5 welcomed a perfect fall day and crowds that gathered for the festivities.

Blondies set up a craft fair in conjunction with the event, and the Catasauqua Fire Department held an open house.

At Fest O’ Fall, HCPA organizers brought back some old favorites - face-painting, the obstacle course and scarecrow building. They also added a few new items - the worm compost farm, D&L Trail information and more events at the George Taylor House - to round out the festivities.

Over at the George Taylor House, the Northampton Militia had a campout. The group of re-enactors has taken over the maintenance chores for the historical landmark. The gardens and house are much improved.

There is still much to do, as the group is out seeking grant money to keep the process going along. State Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, sat down to discuss some new funding for historical properties that she heard about. She will get details to the group.

Joe Carl, from Catasauqua’s Emergency Management Agency, had a display booth for children. Keeping with the security theme, Karen Graver with Damsel in Defense exhibited some personal safety items. New York Life’s Uticia Alvarez and her daughter recorded children’s ID information.

The Catasauqua High School girls field hockey team showed up with some refreshments and offered a few hockey lessons.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church had a kids’ craft booth.

Back at Biery’s Port, the cooks on duty did a great job with the open grill. They were keeping the crowd fed. Cathy’s Creative Catering supplemented the menu.

As the crowd strolled the grounds and enjoyed some refreshments, the bands Prugal and Little Green Shack were performing.
