John “Screppy” S. Filipovits, 89, of Northampton, died Sept. 24, 2019, at home. He was the husband of the late Theresa A. (Geosits) Filipovits.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Frank and Rose (Sabara) Filipovits.

He worked for the former Modern Slack and the former Cross Country Clothes for many years as a cutter.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church, Northampton.

He was a life member of St. Peter & Paul Hungarian Society and was the vice president for 50 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan and her husband Douglas Hall; three grandsons, Philip, Daniel and Derek; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Frank; and three sisters, Rose Stubits, Mary Sugra and Helen Filipovits.
