Students at Salisbury High School are busy preparing for Homecoming.

Each grade has been spending the past few weeks creating decorations and choreographing man dances for the annual Homecoming pep rally. Students also learned the Salisbury High School Alma Mater, which will be sung by the student section after Friday night’s game.

To show their school spirit throughout the week, SHS students and faculty have been dressing up based on daily themes including pajama day, twin day, USA day, Hawaiian day and Blue and White day.

Students will get ready for the Homecoming game at the pep rally by playing games and participating in cheering contests. Then, students representing a variety of sports and activities will march in the parade before kick off 7 p.m. Oct. 4. The SHS old gym will be packed with students at the Homecoming dance 7-10 p.m. Oct. 5. At 9 p.m. the Homecoming king and queen will be announced. Congratulations to Melissa Do, Coralie Nesfeder, Jenna Sartorius, Lily Schimeneck, Riley Simononis, Tim Buda, Ernesto Fermin, Pat Foley, Aaron Kahn and Kyle Killiri for being selected for this year’s homecoming court.

This week students can also participate in a scavenger hunt inspired by Oktoberfest. Students can search the SHS halls for pictures that show German culture and have the chance to receive German candy, chocolate, temporary tattoos or stickers. This is a great way for all SHS students to learn about German culture and Oktoberfest.

Dual enrollment is an opportunity for students to receive college credit while taking courses at SHS. College credit is being offered by both Seton Hall and Moravian College for many different courses. Oct. 18 is the last day to register for dual enrollment. Students interested should turn in the registration packet and fee to Mrs. Moyer.

The SHS cafeteria is now offering grab-n-go breakfasts. Students can buy hot chocolate with whipped cream, breakfast sandwiches or other takeout items. Regular breakfast options will also be served.

Students will enjoy a day off Oct. 14.
