John W. Bechtold, 90, formerly of Fullerton and Walnutport, died Sept. 9, 2019, in Bloomsburg. He was the husband of the late Phyllis M. (Schaffer) Bechtold.

Born in Fullerton, he was a son of the late John K. and Helen (Parker) Bechtold.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Orion.

He worked for 35 years before retiring from the maintenance department at Tarkett, Whitehall.

He was a member of the former St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.

He was a charter and life member of Fullerton American Legion Post 367.

He is survived by a son, Barry and his wife Barbara; five brothers, Charles “Bull,” James, William, Richard and Ronald; a stepgrandson, Derek Smith; a stepgranddaughter, Lindsay Smith; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Maryann; and a brother, Robert.
