Zephyr Elementary’s picture retake day is Sept. 23. If a student is having his or her photo retaken or taken for the first time, bring the original photo or payment for the one you are having taken.

Whitehall-Coplay Middle School PTO PLUS’ book fair is set to start Sept. 23. It will continue until Sept. 27. The book fairs have great selections of reading and more.

The book fair will be open daily for students and Sept. 26 during the school’s meet the teacher night.

WCMS’ picture day has been scheduled for Sept. 26. Students have brought home a form for parents/guardians to review and place orders.

All students will have their photos taken, but purchase is optional.

It’s time for meet the teacher night at WCMS. The event will be held 6-8 p.m. Sept. 26.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend. The evening is a great opportunity and informative for parents.

Whitehall High School juniors will be taking the PSAT Oct. 16. The test is free for all juniors.

Please note: If a sophomore would like to take the test, the cost is $17. Register at the counseling office with payment.

WCMS announces its ZephyrTough Employee of the Month program. If your child has a favorite teacher or staff member who has gone above and beyond for the students, your student, as well as parents and other colleagues, will have the opportunity to recognize the teacher or staff member.

Gockley Elementary School students will be bringing home their first library book. The library provides a book bag, which is to be used to hold their library book each week. This bag serves as protection for all library books throughout the year.

A replacement bag costs 50 cents.

Whitehall-Coplay School District believes daily attendance in school is an extremely important factor in your child’s success in an educational experience. The Pennsylvania Department of Education is monitoring attendance records in all school districts.

Even at the earliest age of kindergarten and first grade, students are building the foundations of reading and math skills that will affect their future learning skills.

Parents should plan their vacation and travel during the holidays or during periods when classes are not in session. Doctor appointments should be planned after the school day.

If your child is absent, a written note is required within three days with a specific reason and parent/guardian’s signature. Failure to do so will make this day an illegal absence. After six illegal absences, a parent meeting will be arranged with building principals.
