Roughie Roundup Soccer teams both get early-season wins
The Catty girls soccer team got the fall season started on Friday morning with a game against Northern Lehigh.
Catty led 2-0 at halftime before the Bulldogs came back a bit. Haleigh Toto started the scoring with a goal on an assist by Katie Weiss. Kaylee Weidaw made it 2-0 for the Roughs when she scored on a pass from Brielle Davies. Toto would assist Weidaw on the team’s final goal.
Briana Ojeda and Shaina Mazzocca scored for the Bulldogs in the second half.
Madison Hicks made 13 saves for Catty to get the win.
Head coach Chris Hain was especially pleased by the defense.
“Catty defense played outstanding, offense played well, we missed some early chances,” said Hain. “It was a good game by Maddy Warren, Olivia Emery, Maddy Harth, Katie Weiss, Emma Hawk, Brielle Davies, Taylor Hicks, Sydney Gebhardt and Aidan Gerhard, and including [the scorers and Hicks].”
Catty battled Allen the next day but fell 2-1. The game was tied in the first half at 1-1 and at the end of regulation before Allen’s Arianna Watkins scored the game-winner. Watkins scored both goals in the day with Tatyannah Wiggins adding an assist.
Catty’s goal came from Lexi Rushatz.
The girls picked up another win over Pen Argyl, 3-2 on Tuesday.
Brielle Davis scored first with an assist from Haleigh Toto. It was Maddy Warren with the second goal thanks to a pass from Emma Hawk and closing things out was Toto with an assist from Isabella Atiyeh.
Maddy Hicks had a big game in net making 27 saves to help preserve the victory.

The boys soccer team got off to a good start as well, beating the Bulldogs 3-0 on Saturday.
Damian DiPaolo got Catty on the board in the first half and it would be all they needed.
Joseph Merkel and Derek Troxell added second half goals, all unassisted for Catty.
The boys fell to Pen Argyl 4-3 but no other information was given to the Press.

William Allen volleyball defeated Catty, 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-4)
Sachiel Rosa had 14 aces, 2 kills and 3 digs while Kalliyana Long had 8 aces, 5 kills and 5 assists for the winners.
Allen JV defeated Catty 2-0 (25-6, 25-9).

Catty field hockey lost 4-0 to Pen Argyl on Tuesday.
The Roughs had a defensive save by Juliza Rodrigues and Tori Hurley. Goalkeeper Katie Parks had 15 saves.
Pen Argyl got goals from Alyssa Williams, Emily Atwell, Bree Lutz and Mariela Dancheva.
