Daniel B. Benarcik Sr.

Daniel B. Benarcik Sr., 96, of Wilmington, Del., died Sept. 2, 2019, at home. He was the husband of Kitty Benarcik for 57 years.

Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late John and Theresa Benarcik.

He was a Whitehall High School graduate. He attended Penn State-Lehigh Valley, and the Citadel, Charleston, S.C.

He was a U.S. Army dispatcher during World War II for the Red Ball Express supply line to the Allied troops after D-Day. He was assigned to the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration to help rebuild Europe after Germany’s surrender

He was a sales representative at Remington Rand Inc. In 1956, he and three of his siblings established a do-it-yourself center called Your Home Inc., which operated for 37 years. He was, in retirement, a student and a teacher at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by three children, Dan Jr. with Peggy Anne Montgomery, Susan with Ken Velasquez and Peter; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by nine siblings.

There will be a calling hour 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service 11 a.m., Sept. 7 at the funeral home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Del.
