Stephen J. Steirer Sr., 79, of Northampton, died Aug. 24, 2019, at home. He was the husband of Geraldine R. (Sommer) for 55 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Stephen and Stella (Pelzman) Steirer.

He was in the U.S. Army.

He was a dispatcher at Matlack Trucking for 20 years. He was the proprietor of Log Cabin Hotel, Coplay, for 20 years.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

He was a member of Hungarian Hall and Coplay Saengerbund.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stephen J. Jr. and his wife Lisa, Jeffrey and his wife Kimberly and Scott R. and his wife Jennifer; six grandchildren, Sarah, Emma, Jacob, Will, Sophie and Ella; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Eleanor Lelko, Dorothy Keip and Anita Cesanek.

There will be a calling time 8-10:15 a.m. Aug. 29 at the funeral home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Aug. 29 at the church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
