Joseph J. Molchany, 86, of Allentown, died Aug. 24, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Ruth K. (Giangulano) Molchany.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late James G. and Susan M. (Budihas) Molchany.

He was a 1952 graduate of Northampton High School.

He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korea era and earned the rank of SKG2.

He was employed by Essroc Cement Company for 27 years until he retired in 1995. Previously, he was employed by the Northampton-Bath Railroad and Western Electric Corporation.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield.

He was a past president of Local Union No. 414 for 11 years and was a trustee for District Council No. 1.

He is survived by four daughters, Jody and her husband William Bernecker of Northampton and Marybeth Blose, Roseann Sottolano and Elena and her husband Joseph Geczi, all of Coplay; a son, James and his wife Michelle of Coplay; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Dorothy Abelovsky of Lehighton; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Jacob, William and Robert.

There will be a calling time 9:30-11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m., Sept. 3 at the church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
