Back to School Bash is a blast

Revolution Church took over the George Taylor House grounds for its Back to School Bash Aug. 25.

“We try to do something every year to make sure that students are ready for school,” said Pastor Mary McIver, of Revolution Church, 5 Race St. “And we add a little fun to the event, too.”

Crayola donated paper, crayons and notebooks for kids headed back to the classroom. The church staff packaged everything into 95 backpacks that were supplied by church members.

The party included more than just standing in line to get a backpack.

A dunk tank was set up. Daniel Miller, seated above the water, could not avoid pitching prospect Joshua Nation, who hit the mark no matter where he stood.

A bounce house and slide added to the fun.

Cooks doled out hot dogs.

For kids, the potato sack race was a blast. For adults, not so much - Mayor Barbara Schlegel decided after her first race that she was going to only enter the mayor’s race.

Young participants are eager to get the sack race underway during Revolution Church's Back to School Bash, held Aug. 25 on the grounds of the George Taylor House, Poplar and Lehigh streets.PRESS PHOTO BY PAUL Cmil
