LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Rain doesn’t deter 5K fundraising run for food pantry

The Girls on the Run club was scheduled to have their season ending 5K run at the Lehigh Parkway, but due to the weather it was canceled and there was no rain date.

The students were devastated so Jill Berlet, principal of Weisenberg Elementary School generously allowed the club to use the school grounds to complete their goal.

A track measuring of 5K in length was set around the school allowing the girls and their running buddies to complete their goals in running a 5K.

The girls as their club project collected items that they would use to create birthday bags/boxes to be donated to a local food bank.

Each bag or box would contain a cake mix, frosting, candles, some paper good and party supplies.

The girls made collection boxes to be placed in all the fourth and fifth grade classrooms.

These enterprising young ladies filled 59 bags that were taken to the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry, New Tripoli.
