According to Salisbury Township School District Superintendent Dr. Randy Ziegenfuss, start of school information, including schedules for secondary students, teacher assignments for elementary students and bus assignments for all students will be available in the community portal Aug. 15. Visit https://bit.ly/2LyGB8H at that time to access student information. Ziegenfuss noted an internal error opened the portal for access prior to everything being finalized. He asked that information be disregarded and updated information will be available soon.
Harry S Truman Elementary School will hold a kindergarten and new student orientation 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 8. Welcome to all our incoming Falcon families!
The HST PTO will host a dine and donate event 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 21. at MaGia’s Friendly Italian restaurant, 1701 E. Susquehanna St. A portion of all sales will be donated to the PTO for the annual fundraising efforts.
Salisbury High School will host a boys and girls youth soccer clinic 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 21. This clinic is open to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. There is a discounted fee for registration before Aug. 17. Registration also will be available at the start of the clinic and there is a fee for each additional sibling registering for the clinic. T-shirts are available to the first 50 registrants.
The clinic is run by the coaches and players of the high school teams as a fundraiser. Participants are to have appropriate attire including cleats and shin guards, as well as their own soccer ball.
Baseline ImPACT testing will be held for all fall sport athletes including middle school, junior varsity, varsity football, field hockey, cross country, soccer, golf, tennis and cheerleading. A baseline ImPACT test is required for students to participate in athletics. Please note this testing is not for Salisbury Youth Association.
Who needs a new baseline ImPACT test? Any new middle school and high school athlete if you have never played a Salisbury Middle School or SHS sport, all those in seventh, eighth and ninth grades (or a team manager in grades six through 12, any high school athlete who has not taken a new baseline test within the last two years (typically, 11th graders) transfer students, managers and those who have never participated in sports before or any athlete who has sustained a concussion in this past school year. Twirlers and band members are welcome to take the test but are not required to. Please note: Student athletes need a new baseline test every year at the middle school level and every two years at the high school level. The first day for all Salisbury Township students will be Aug. 27. I can’t believe that time of year has come already; the summer sure went fast!
The Franko Farm Yard Waste Drop off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10 and 13.
