WESTERN SALISBURY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Western Salisbury Elementary School will host a new family welcome 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 15. Any family new to the building, whether the student is in kindergarten or first through fifth grade, is welcome to come and meet some staff, tour the building and find out how things work at WSE. Come on down!

The Salisbury Township School District website is currently under construction. The basics are there, but some items are still missing. It really looks different. When it is finished, I will be taking some time to explore so I know where everything is located.

Wildlands Conservancy, 3701 Orchard Place, Emmaus, has a number of programs available for campers and families, including “S’mores & Starry Skies,” 7 p.m. Aug. 2; “Full Moon Paddle,” 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 and “Island Park Exploration,” 10 a.m. Aug. 31. The last movie for the AMC theaters summer movie camp is Aug. 7. They will show “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.”

Did you know Bethlehem SteelStacks shows free movies in the summer? “The Incredibles 2” will be shown at the Levitt Pavilion, 645 E. First St., 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

The Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church Summer Concert Series is in full swing. The next concert will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6. Performing will be the Jerusalem Singers and all proceeds from the concert will go to Satori’s “Gift of Music” program.

An operations committee meeting will be held 7 p.m. Aug. 7. A school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Both meetings will be in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road.

An update to the new guidelines for Salisbury Township recycling can be found on the Salisbury website at www.salisburytownshippa.org/refuse-recycling. There is a poster available to print out that distinguishes what is and is not recyclable.

The Devonshire Drop-off will be open Aug. 3, 6, 8 and 12. Hours of operation for Salisbury residents are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month. Evening hours are 3-9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.
