Stanley James Moyer

Stanley James Moyer, 83, of Whitehall, died July 17, 2019, at the Lehigh Center, Macungie.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Stanley W. and Miriam (Moyer) Beidleman of Whitehall.

He was a Whitehall High School graduate.

He was a music instructor and performer. He was, for 50 years, a music director for Whitehall High School and then Swain School, Allentown. He was, for 36 years, principle trumpet and soloist for the Allentown Band and of the Municipal Bands of Allentown and Easton. He founded the Stanley J. Moyer Brass Quartet.

He was a member of The President’s Own United States Marine Band and played for the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and the 1961 presidential inauguration of John F. Kennedy. He played for Christmas Eve services and for Twelfth Night at Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown.

For 58 years, he was a member of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.

He is survived by a niece, Beth Nikles Olsen and her husband John; and two great-nieces, Kira Raye and Scarlet Rose.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia R. Nikles.
