Thomas “Whitey” J. White Sr., 77, of Bethlehem, died on July 13, 2019, at home. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Jane (Epp) White. He was the husband of Betty L. (Evans) White for years.
He worked for FK&M Sign Company, then was a fertilizer truck driver for Robert A. Reichard Inc. fertilizer company in Allentown, which became Lebanon Chemical when he retired. He then was an oil truck driver for Freyman Oil; learned HVAC while he worked for Zongora Comfort Solutions; and was an oil truck driver for Meenan Oil, from which he also retired; but continued to work in the oil business for Zongora.
In his younger years he raced a motor cycle at Steel City and was a member of Keystone Motorcycle Club. He was a volunteer fireman for the River Road Fire Company. He had a side business installing A-treat signs at local bars and clubs; plowed snow and hauled scrap metal; made deliveries for Kratzer Supply and handled personal calls on oil burners.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas “Butch” J. Jr. and his wife Holly; and a sister, Kathy Adams and her spouse David Hollenbach.
He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Darring; a brother, William White; three grandchildren, Todd, Tracy Romero and her husband Alex, and Tara; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Jacob Romero; nieces; and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Sell-Herron Funeral Home Inc., Allentown.
