U.S. Navy

Venus Rebholz graduated from the U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion School at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, S.C., June 21.

Rebholz is a former Catasauqua resident and daughter of David Molony. She is also a 2016 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

The yearlong postgraduate program is a rigorous experience that combines classroom exercises with hands-on training programs on the development and use of nuclear power plants used in the Navy on its carriers and submarines. As part of the program, Rebholz received live nuclear training with civilian engineers working on reactors.

Rebholz received her surface warfare certification after working for two years on an Aegis destroyer, the DDG Mustin, in the West Pacific, South China Sea and the Sea of Japan. She was based in Yokosuka, Japan, during her last deployment.

With her nuclear certification, she will be transferred to Bremerton, Wash., to serve on the USS Nimitz.
