Elementary students learn about caring for trees, plants

Debbie Barhight, conservation chair for the Parkland Garden Club, recently visited with Cetronia Elementary School first graders.

She discussed the importance of trees to the environment.

The white spruce seedlings were provided by Pennsylvania Game Commission Howard Nursery in Centre County.

Barhight told the students how best to plant their trees either outside at home, or keep them inside until they have grown more.

Close to 100 first graders were at the presentation.
