PennDOT changes detours

Nicholas Steiner, Moore Township manager, verified a number of resident complaints were generated by recent Pennsylvania Department of Transportation detours.

The bridge at Route 248 and Valley View Drive is being replaced. It was built in 1929.

The detours included one detour for truck traffic and another for car traffic.

The original detour for cars took “traffic down dirt and gravel roads. These roads are not designed for this volume of traffic,” Steiner said.

After resident complaints, the township responded by promptly alerting PennDOT about the issues. PennDOT changed the detours.

Another bridge repair, also on Route 248, is proceeding absent of any detour issues, according to Steiner.

PennDOT expects the bridge constructions to be completed as early as September, barring any unforeseen delays.

Steiner said if residents experience any detour issues, they should contact the township office and ask for him.
