District Attorney Jim Martin has announced that Delilah Reader, age 35, of 151 Streamside St., Kunkletown, has been charged with murder in the third degree, a felony of the first degree, in relation to the death of a child.
The case was investigated by Lehigh County Detective Ralph Romano and Lehigh County’s ninth investigating grand jury.
Reader was taken into custody June 13 without incident and was preliminarily arraigned through central booking. A date for a preliminary hearing will be set; however, the commonwealth will be filing a motion with Judge Maria Dantos seeking to bypass the preliminary hearing.
It is alleged that on or about Dec. 6, 2007, Reader was the sole caregiver of Angelina Tomas, at that time a 10-month-old child, and on that morning, Reader caused a traumatic brain injury to the child. That injury resulted in developmental delays, cognitive and learning impairments, physical disabilities, and a seizure disorder, the latter of which caused Angelina Tomas’s death in 2015.
Judge Dantos has sealed the Presentment; thus, no further facts will or can be released.
