Barbara E. Johnson, 87, of Lower Macungie Township and formerly of Itasca, Ill., died June 10, 2019, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Burton A. Johnson. They were married for 67 years in January. Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late William S. and Enid (Smith) Edwards.

She was a dedicated homemaker but loved to travel both domestically and abroad.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Allentown.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Steven A. and his wife, Cynthia, of Coopersburg and Mark E. and his wife, Colleen, of Royersford; daughter, Janet J. Benhart, of Itasca, Ill.,; sister, Donna Jean Jummati, of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, William Smith Edwards, of Chicago, Ill. and James Russell Edwards, of Largo, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. June 21 in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W. Tilghman St., Allentown. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
