Sarah I. McClellan, 89, of Nazareth and formerly of Whitehall, died May 25, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the wife of the late Clair C. McClellan.
Born in Oakmont, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Reed) Dunkle.
She was a 1947 graduate of Oakmont High School, Pittsburgh. In 1951, she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
She was the head of the home economics department in the Northampton Area School District for 25 years until she retired in 1991.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Whitehall, where she sang on the choir.
She was a 50-year member of Amaranth, Rose Croix Chapter 235 Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. She held various offices in all organizations.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth A. and his wife Cheryl of Middletown, Conn.; Terry L. and his wife Debbie of Nazareth, David C. and his fiancee Cynthia Leeser of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charles E. of Whitehall; a daughter, Liane R. and her husband Steve Laskoske of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
