Liberty roared through Parkland in the District 11 6A baseball semifinals thanks to a nine-run sixth inning, which catapulted them to an 11-4 victory over the weekend.
The win sets up a district finale between the Hurricanes (22-3) and Emmaus (13-11) on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park, which comes after Press deadlines.
The second-seeded Hurricanes clinched a spot in the PIAA tournament with Sunday’s win, but hope to add a gold medal to their resume this season after losing in the EPC championship game.
Liberty knocked off Emmaus, which was the eighth-seed in the tournament, 7-1 in the two teams’ only meeting this season.
The Green Hornets have been on a staggering run through the district tournament thus far, knocking off top-seeded Northampton 5-3 in the opening round and then seeing sophomore pitcher Braden Waller no-hit Easton in a 3-0, semifinal round win to advance the unlikely Hornets to the title game and secure a spot in the state tournament.
The last time Liberty won districts was in 2016.
