Douglas W. Files, 86, of Nazareth, died May 17, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Judith S. Files for 41 years.
Born in Mason City, Iowa, he was a son of the late Wade and Dorothy Files.
He completed his Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University.
He was a Marine naval aviator and earned the rank of captain during the Korean War.
He flew commercial planes for United Airlines from 1966 to 1993, from which he retired as a captain. He was a substitute teacher at Neshaminy School District, Lower Bucks County, and taught high school in Carey, N.C.
He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Nazareth.
He was a tutor at Project Easton and was a Penn State Master Gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Douglas Daniel with Kathy of Washington Crossing and Charles Warner with Nancy of Perkasie; two daughters, Ann Mari Butz with Damian of Larksville and Susan Elizabeth Nestor with Robert of Wilton, Conn.; a brother, Donald Files with Nancy of Concord, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher.
