Cottrell accepted at DelVal
Leia Cottrell, of Bethlehem, has been accepted as a new student for fall 2019 at Delaware Valley University.
Duplaga in SpringSERVE
King’s College senior and a physician assistant student, Taylor Duplaga of Bethlehem, volunteered with other students for a SpringSERVE (Students Engaged in Reflective Volunteer Experiences) trip to Easton, Mass., to work with My Brother’s Keeper. The group collected and made door-to-door deliveries of furniture and food to families in need in eastern Massachusetts.
Penn State/LV students recognized
Several Bethlehem area residents were recognized on April 24 at Penn State Lehigh Valley’s 2019 Student Awards Ceremony. Jacqueline McLaughlin, associate professor of biology at Penn State Lehigh Valley and recipient of the 2018 Teaching Excellence Award, was the keynote speaker.
Local students honored for outstanding achievement included Naseeba Saeed, Eric. A. and Josephine Walker Award, Outstanding Student in Corporate Communication Award, 2018 Evan Pugh Scholar Award; John Lahutsky, Heart of the Lion Award; Katherine Guzman (Hellertown), 2018 President’s Freshman Award; Hibah Akbar, Excellence in Public Speaking Award; Abigayle Ward, First-Year Chemistry Achievement Award.
Highest Cumulative Average by College (3.5 or above): Abigayle Ward, Agricultural Sciences; Katherine Guzman (Hellertown), Liberal Arts; Rana Moawad, Science.
