Robert E. Ross

Robert E. Ross, 84, of Salisbury Township, died March 6, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband and best friend to the late Betty D. Ross. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage based upon the core values of communication and compromise. Their shared love and commitment will forever be evident through the memories of their children and grandchildren. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Edwin E.H. Ross and Wilhelmina J. Ross.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a ships meteorologist while stationed aboard the USS Edisto.

He spent the next 36 years of his professional life as PBX repair technician for Bell/AT&T, retiring in December 1993 and also during those years he served as a union representative and shop steward working on behalf of his fellow employees. After retiring he continued his life of service while sitting on the Lehigh Valley Credit Union’s board of directors.

He was an avid sports enthusiast playing basketball and softball in his early years, then enjoyed golf and bowling recreationally and in league play. As an armchair sports enthusiast he and his wife hosted annual Super Bowl parties and enjoyed seeing the Eagles finally win the last game of the season!

He is survived by a daughter, TerryLynn and her lifelong friend, Debbie Pfeifer; son, Rhody K. and his wife, Beverly; grandsons, Connor M. and Evan C.; brother, Richard and his wife, Susan; brother, Walter “Waldo”; brother-in-law, Edward “Bud” Alpha and his wife, Norean; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife and his sister.

A memorial service was held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
