It’s officially time to start mentioning spring concerts, field days and all things warm weather and that can only mean it’s nearing the end of school. Enjoy these last weeks of controlled chaos as our schools begin to wrap up this school year, but there is still a lot to learn and accomplish.
Harry S Truman Elementary School yearbooks are currently on sale. Information and order forms were sent home already so make sure to return your form with payment by May 3 to secure your copy of this year’s book. Extra order forms are available if your order form didn’t quite make it home.
Salisbury Township students are wrapping up the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing this week with fourth and eighth grade students taking the science portions May 1 and 2. Any student who needs to make up PSSA testing will do so prior to May 3.
Salisbury High School is hosting a parent workshop featuring the health benefits of spices and herbs 6 p.m. May 6. Participants will learn the health benefits of using spices and herbs in cooking, from strong and spicy to mild and peppery.
Those in attendance will leave knowing how to use plant-based foods in a daily diet and how those foods promote good health. Some recipes will also be shared.You must RSVP for this event by May 3 to Ginny Gugleimini at 610-797-2062, ext. 1400.
May 6 will be the next HST PTO meeting 7 p.m. in the staff lounge. Child care is provided by the high school Key Club.
The SHS Spring Concert will be held 7 p.m. May 7. The concert will include vocal and instrumental performances and is expected to last 90 minutes. There is no admission and there will be a reception following the performance.
HST will hold its field day for students in grades kindergarten through second May 8. Look for information to be sent home in the coming days regarding this event. The rain date is May 14. The field day for students in grades three to five will be May 15 with a rain date of May 21.
The annual district art show will be at SHS 5-8 p.m. May 8. Art from all students in the district will be on display. This is always a great way to view the amazing artistic ability of all our students.
The next HST T-shirt day is May 9. We are winding down T-shirt days for this year – remember to wear your shirt.
The Salisbury Middle School Spring Concert will be held May 9, beginning 7 p.m. This performance includes both vocal and instrumental performances from the talented middle school students.
Salisbury Township elementary schools, both HST and Western Salisbury Elementary School, will dismiss 1 p.m. May 10. If dismissal plans change, please notify your student’s respective school.
Township branch collection continues through May 3. Branches should be placed curbside and be no longer than 5 feet long, bundled together with twine. Open containers without lids can be used for smaller branches. Yard waste may be dropped off at the Franko Farm yard waste drop off 3-6 p.m. May 2 and 6 and 8 a.m until 1 p.m. May 11.
