Huber eying postseason
Amy Huber is looking forward to the postseason this season. Unfortunately, she didn’t have one last season.
She is optimistic fate will be on her side, however.
The Catasauqua senior missed leagues and districts last year due to a torn ACL that occurred during the last regular season meet. She has focused her attention on the 100 meter hurdles, an event in which she set a new personal record (18.45) in an earlier meet at Palisades this season. Huber also set a new personal mark in the 300 hurdles (56.60) at the same meet.
Huber also has been a part of the Roughies’ successful 4x100 relay team over the recent years. Despite the loss of some key members to recent graduation, Huber is the first leg with teammates Madison Hicks, Haleigh Toto, and Trinity Kern, the foursome that posted a high of 58.25 at Palisades.
“I have been running close to a time that I finished last year in the 100 meter hurdles, my main event,” said Huber. “It is looking like I will qualify for leagues and districts. My postseason was taken away from me last year, and I am so grateful to be wearing the Brown and White this season.”
Head coach Kyle Rusnock also is grateful to see Huber back in the mix.
“Amy (Huber) is a team player,” he said. “She helps out everywhere and excels in many events. Despite her knee injury last year, she has worked hard to get back and is competing hard to be back in form and at a high level.
“She is on track to compete in the post season.”
Like most upperclassmen, Huber is appreciative of the close-knit environment generated by the team.
“You can definitely tell a difference between this year’s team and other years in terms of teams as a whole,” she said. “Everybody is competing with each other at practices to make themselves and others better.
“We still have individuals who are shining through, but as a team we are competing at a higher level and giving other schools a harder run for their money.”
And Huber has been a major reason for their success.
