Olivia Faenza, daughter of Brian and Stephanie Faenza, was honored March 27 by the Allentown-West Rotary as Student of the Month.
Faenza, a senior at Parkland High School, was honored because she is a leader in service to others, which is easily seen by the many successful community service projects she has spearheaded while being an active student and participating fully in her high school community.
Faenza serves as vice president of the marching band.
Last September, she spearheaded a drive by the band to collect school supplies for Central Elementary School, Allentown.
In December 2018, she persuaded her senior class to hold a toy drive for Central Elementary.
The Parkland School Board recognized her for these projects.
She has been a Girl Scout Camp Counselor for five years and has volunteered for Special Olympics.
This summer, she will be assisting the executive director of Miracle League in planning events for the public.
In addition to the marching band, she is also active with indoor percussion ensembles, concert chorus, and Tri Music Honors Society.
She is also involved in the Parkland track and field team and her church youth group.
After graduation, she plans to attend Shippensburg University, where she will major in communications/journalism, and wants to find a career in nonprofit work as an event planner.
She will also be playing in the Shippensburg University marching band.
