I’m sorry that I missed you, but the train
came at 12 o’clock, and you know, of late,
how I never trust the ethereal rain
to extinguish the fires in my crate.
It was hard at first, thinking of leaving,
but o’er time I found solace in the fear
of having to spend so much time grieving
for she who would never cease to appear.
The future holds no guarantees for me,
And so that is why, when the train does come,
                I command the irregularities
of an hour to become a life’s sum.
After all, time goes on, with or without,
And I must leap, destitute of my doubt.
