Irene Taylor Holman, Calvary Baptist Church member
Irene Taylor Holman, 83, of Bath, died at home April 7, 2019. Born in Pascagoula, Miss., she was a daughter of Charles Houston Taylor and Gussie Elizabeth (Parker) Taylor. She was the wife of U.S. Navy officer Rockwell Holman.
She was a 1953 Pascagoula HS graduate. She graduated from the University of North Florida, majoring in journalism, where she was editor of the university’s student newspaper.
She was an office assistant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans, the office of Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and for law offices in the Lehigh Valley.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she participated in mission trips to Romania, India and Slidell, La.; in the small group Bible study; and sang on the choir.
She volunteered with the American Red Cross, Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, Lehigh Valley Literacy Council, driver’s ed for AARP and the Young at Heart group for seniors. She played the piano and flute and sang alto. She was an award-winning rug hooker.
She is survived by a son, Matthew and his fiancee Dawn Jackowski of Catasauqua; three daughters, Robyn of Jefferson, Maine; Pebble and her husband James Kelsey of Damariscotta, Maine; and Heather and her husband Raymond Page of Scarborough, Maine; two brothers, Robert “Doug” and his wife Pat Taylor of Vacaville, Calif. and Buck and his wife Terry Taylor of Lucedale, Miss.; a sister, Alda Mae and her husband Carl Elkins of Lucedale; 12 grandchildren, James, Autumn, Aran, Audrey, Sophie, Muriel, Miranda, Skylar, Todd, Steven, Lucas and Benjamin; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Houston Taylor, Charles “Billy” Taylor and Carlton Taylor.
