National Oreo Day celebrated at Parkland Library

Every day there is some reason to celebrate food, and March 6 was no different.

It was National Oreo Day.

An Oreo taste test was set up in the Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall, for kids in second grade and older to give their taste buds a sweet treat.

Parkland Youth Services Librarian Jaclyn Hoimes, who wanted to celebrate, too, set up seven plates of various flavors of Oreos for the test.

Each child received a ballot to guess the flavor of each of the seven varieties.

And, there was even milk available for dunking.

After the tasting, Hoimes revealed the correct flavors.

Cookie A was birthday cake and cookie B was lemon flavored,

Cookie C was salted caramel and D was carrot cake.

Cookie E was mint flavored, F was chocolate and cookie G was red velvet.

The favorite by a raise of hands was mint and the second favorite was chocolate.

All the ballots were then placed in a box and the person whose ballot was chosen first received a package of Oreos of their choice.

Ballots were chosen until the seven packages of Oreos were gone.
