Former councilman announces campaign for district judge

Nathan D. Kromer has announced his candidacy for magisterial district judge representing District 31-1-07, which encompasses Whitehall Township and Coplay Borough.

Kromer, 37, served as a Coplay Borough councilman in 2008, chairing the finance committee and serving on the police and administration committees. He also served as a judge of elections for Coplay District 2.

Kromer graduated from Whitehall High School as a member of the Class of 1999 and went on to graduate from Muhlenberg College with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in finance. He later earned his master’s degree in community and economic development from The Pennsylvania State University.

He has been working for Uline Shipping Supplies in building maintenance and operations for the last 14 years.

Kromer is active in the community as vice president and director of coaching at Triboro Soccer Club, where he also coaches his sons’ soccer teams. He is a former member of the Coplay Town Watch and former secretary of the Coplay Democratic Club. He is also a volunteer at Peaceable Kingdom animal shelter.

Kromer’s focus as district magistrate would be interpreting the local ordinances of Whitehall and Coplay, applying the facts of the case to the law and following due process.

“It is important that whomever holds the position of magistrate is well-rounded because district court handles much more than just basic citations. People’s livelihoods are at stake,” he said. “My record of impartiality, fairness and experience in local government will have a strong impact on the decisions I make.”

Kromer was raised in Whitehall and later moved to Coplay, where he has lived for the last 14 years with his wife, Keri, and their three children, Gillian, Landon and Elliott.
