No single agenda item dominated Bethlehem’s authority meeting March 14, as the majority of onging issues were addressed and set aside for further work.
Executive Director Stephen Repasch did say he is looking forward to Earth Day April 22 and intends to lead buses of volunteers to the watershed to plant chestnuts for a new generation of trees.
Repasch said he’s reached out to Northampton Community College in the hope of attracting student and faculty volunteers.
Seemingly intrigued by a day spent out in the sun, many board members said they’d like to join the expedition.
Meanwhile, the yearslong wind energy project, which may ultimately culminate in the construction of dozens of giant electricity-generating turbines near the Carbon County watershed, has hit another doldrum.
Appeals and counter appeals between the authority and developer Atlantic Wind and Penn Forest Township’s zoning hearing board persist in a perpetual tug-of-red-tape.
Repasch sounded resigned. “I don’t know how long this process takes. Months?”
The next meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. April 11 at city hall.
