Cub Scout Pack 94 celebrated its annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 23 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, Catasauqua.

The evening began with a pot luck dinner, where families brought a covered dish to share. After the meal, Joe Wilfinger, of Whitehall, shared some Lenni Lenape Native American artifacts with the group. The kids had the opportunity to hold and use the artifacts, including a dance rattle, rain stick, beads and arrow heads.

“The purpose of the Blue and Gold Banquet is to celebrate the pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack and inspired the leaders, Scouts and parents,” Shawn Regits, den leader of Cub Scout Pack 94, said.

“The Blue and Gold is one of our largest pack events of the year. It is our goal for the Cub Scouts to earn their rank badge: Lion, Tiger, Bear, Wolf and Webelos,” Regits continued.

“It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. The Blue and Gold Banquet is a tradition within packs, celebrating the leaders and parents who volunteer to make Scouting fantastic. Sometimes, former pack members return for the banquet,” Shaun Dunn, Scoutmaster for Cub Scout Pack 94, said.

As the evening was drawing to a close, the Scouts waited for their favorite activity. Members of the 600 Club - Scouts who sold the most popcorn during their fundraiser - got to smash a pie in Dunn’s face. Ten Scouts made the cut.
