Melissa Jacobs, owner of Julia’s 4 Seasons, 327 Front St., Catasauqua, has announced her consignment store would close at the end of March.

“We have no plans on where to move next, but we are looking for options,” she said.

According to Jacobs, she was unable to negotiate an acceptable lease arrangement with her landlord.

“This was a tribute store. I named it in honor of my mother and a dear friend whose name was also Julia,” Jacobs said.

The business had a seven-year run on Front Street. Julia’s won Lehigh Valley Magazine’s Best of the Valley four years in a row. The store was recognized on the Lehigh Valley Happening list.

“I’ve worked with the local business community to promote the Catasauqua business district and particularly the potential future of business on Front Street,” she said.

Jacobs has been keen to share her experiences and develop other women into business.

“I was able to help put six other women in entrepreneurial businesses. At most of our open houses, we promoted local crafters who created networks for other women. It has been a highly successful and rewarding business,” she said.

“One of the things I really liked about this store was that I could get nice clothes at reasonable prices. And I could consign clothes that I no longer needed,” Kelly Baer said.

According to Jacobs, it is a very viable business model.

“You need to work hard at building a good clientele, but there is a need for women to wear affordable high fashion,” she said.

Jacobs held a final open house Feb. 23 where customers and friends gathered.
