Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., Catasauqua, holds a special soup, salad and sweets fundraising event the weekend before Valentine’s Day. The idea was the brainchild of Judy Morgan.

“This year, everything we raise is going to the church’s general fund,” Morgan said.

The event was held Feb. 9. Last year, the money raised went to the choir.

Everything is homemade - even the salad is hand tossed.

“When we started this event, we had it in the evening. The afternoon works so much better for us,” Morgan said.

Guests are welcome to relax and dine with others or take the food to enjoy at home. The event is always well attended.
