Elizabeth “Betty” May Girou, 93, of Hellertown, died Feb. 10, 2019. Born in Philadelphia; she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Helen (Trampé) Holmes. She was the wife of the late Harry D. Girou for 73 years.
She sewed Army and Navy uniforms during the war. She also sewed professional baseballs , after which she worked as a seamstress in the Lehigh Valley for many years before retiring to care for her family.
She was a member of East Hills Moravian Church, Bethlehem.
She is survived by her children, Robert David and his wife Rita and Bill Giroux, all of Florida; Donna Kromer and Walter Sickels of Hellertown and Dottie and her husband Dave Fornaro of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Weider; and a brother, John Holmes.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Moyer and Helen Harr; and three brothers, Charles, Edward and Thomas Holmes.
