Dr. Methodius “Meddy” J. Kocis, 87, of Macungie, died Jan. 23, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Theresa A. (Bobowski) Kocis. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Stephen S. and Anna V. (Labanz) Kocis.

He was a graduate of Emmaus High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He also attended Moravian College and Temple University School of Dentistry.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a dentist in Wescosville for 32 years until retiring.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus and the Emmaus Senior Golf League.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Thomas (Sally), Joe (Barbara), Mark (late wife, Judy) Jon (Matt) and James (Vicki); brother, Cyril; sisters, Lucille Troxell and Teresa Ervin; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Kaitlyn and Jon; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Harper. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew and sisters, Ann, Mary, Chris, Genie, Verna, Helen, Betty and Celia.
