Steven C. Seyer, 81, of South Whitehall Township, died on Jan. 22, 2019, in Lehigh Valley Hospice.

He and his wife Dr. Patricia A. (Forschner) Seyer were married 56 years in June.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Stephen J. and Henrietta (Gehringer) Seyer.

He was a professor of social sciences at Lehigh Carbon Community College for 40 years.

A graduate of Northampton High School, Muhlenberg College and Lehigh University, he was actively involved in South Whitehall Township serving on the board of commissioners for 12 years and the planning commission for 10 years.

He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his granddaughter, Jamie.

An avid traveler, he enjoyed traveling the world, especially to Germany.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Jennifer, wife of Robert Weighknecht; Kendall Seyer; brother Kenneth and wife, Audra; and granddaughter, Jamie.
