Geraldine M. “Gerry” Schafer, 87, formerly of Airport Road, Allentown, died Jan. 25, 2019, in Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, South Whitehall, where she had been residing.

She was the wife of the late Gerald Schafer.

Born May 4, 1931, in Upper Milford Township, she was the daughter of the late Harold O. and Helen N. (Fegely) Berger.

She was employed in the housekeeping department of the Sheraton Jet Port, Allentown, for 12 years before retiring in 2001.

Before that, she was a caregiver at Phoebe Home, Allentown, and several private residences in the Lehigh Valley for 20 years.

She was a member of the Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

Her survivors include a son Allen G. Schafer; sister Mary Ann Hoch; sister-in-law Mildred Berger; grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley A. Schafer, and a brother, William H. Berger.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Jan. 31 in Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. Patience D. Stevenson officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 1-2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
