NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP: Union UCC to have tailgate party fundraiser to fight hunger

The Welcoming Committee of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will be hosting a tailgate party from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 3, the day of the big football game.

Enjoy a free lunch of subs, pizza, wings, chili, salads, snacks, birch beer and dessert. The occasion is a welcome party not only for new church members but also for anyone who would like to have some food, fun and fellowship.

Union UCC joins thousands of churches across the country on Super Souper Sunday to collect food and funds to fight hunger.

The mission committee set a goal of 600 cans of soup to help feed families in the Northern Lehigh community.

Cash donations will be given to the Lehigh County Conference of Churches.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will have a LOUD offering on Souper Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3, as coins and dollars will be accepted in large soup pots. These gifts will be used to help feed and shelter local hungry people.

The church will have a soup and dessert luncheon 11:30 a.m. that day

Desserts and pots of soup may be entered in a contest and evaluated by taste testers who purchase tickets to benefit ELCA World Hunger.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, invites everyone, experienced or not, to come to the quilting group at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Join in hand sewing, knotting and machine and hand quilting. If you don’t know how to do those skills, learn as you go. Call 610-262-8061 for more information.

Schnecksville Fire Company will have a buffet breakfast in the main hall 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 27. Menu includes ham, sausage, home fries, creamed chipped beef, eggs, pancakes, toast and beverages.

Bingo is played at the fire company Mondays. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Early bird at 6 p.m., Regular games 6:45 p.m.

The Auxiliary of NOVA is taking orders until Feb. 4 for the cherry pie and soup fund- raiser.
