Kathryn L. (Reid) Lichty, 81, of Lower Macungie Township, died in her home Jan. 19, 2019. She was the wife of the late Jacob V. Lichty for 56 years. Born in Staten Island, New York City, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Van S. and Martha E. (Harris) Reid and grew up traveling with an Army family before settling in Marshall, Mo.

She graduated from Marshall High School and Northwest Missouri State Teachers College and then worked as an elementary teacher in Lees Summit, Mo., Quakertown, Rochester, N.Y. and Easton.

She worked at the Emmaus Public Library for 29 years, teaching many children’s classes as “The Story Lady.”

She was a member and taught Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church, Allentown.

She is survived by sons, Lawrence J. and his wife, Shannon P., of Mechanicsburg, and Mark R. and his fiancee, Faith Heimbach, of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Brooke R., Kellen P., Logan P. and Lauren B.; brothers, Van R. Reid, of Eaton Rapids, Mich. and James W. Reid, of Sweet Springs, Mo.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Jan. 24, at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Viewing will be held noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 24 in the funeral home.
