According to information provided by the Parkland School District, “At approximately 6:10 a.m. Jan. 24 a fire alarm sound at Springhouse Middle School.
“A unit ventilator in the lobby of the gym entrance had its motor freeze up and begin to smoke.
“The smoke triggered an alarm. Fire personnel and our school maintenance personnel used fans to blow out any residual smoke.
“Fire personnel in South Whitehall Township gave permission to have school today at the regular time.
“Principal Minotti sent out a message to parents, teachers and students informing them.
“The response by our personnel and fire department was noteworthy.
The school district thanked all involved who helped open school on time.
