John Boncik, Slovak group, choir singer

John Boncik, 73, of Bethlehem, died Jan. 1, 2019, in his home. Born in Dlhé Nad Cirochou, in the former Czechoslovakia, he was a son of the late John and Helena (Burda) Boncik. He was the husband of Anna (Martinka) Macek-Boncik for 16 years.

He was a maintenance technician at Just Born Inc. for 15 years until he retired. Previously, he was a machinist for Mack Trucks.

He was a parishioner of Incarnation of Our Lord Church, Bethlehem. He was a choir member at Holy Family, Nazareth; Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Bethlehem; St. John the Baptist, Allentown; and also of the Polka Mass choir.

He was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund and of the Tatra Slovak Folk Group, Bethlehem.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tanya and her husband Kevin Rogers, Cammy Georgiou, Mary Helena and her husband Claude Gomes and John Joseph and his wife Nicole Boncik, all of Bethlehem; William and his wife Dawn Macek of Charleston, S.C., Mark and his wife Molly Macek of Baltimore, Md. and Erick and his wife Laura Macek of North Hollywood, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Trevor Rogers, Cassie Rogers, Michael Georgiou, Nathan Macek, Joseph Macek, Michael Macek, Andrej Macek and Cole Macek; three siblings, Milan Boncik, Valika and Helena all of Slovakia; nieces; and nephews.
