Jerry Hausman, 89, of Bethlehem and Boynton Beach, Fla., died Jan. 3, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Max and Helen (Friedman). He was the husband of Florence (Snyder) Hausman for 63 years.
He was a 1947 Fountain Hill H.S. and a 1951 Muhlenberg College graduate.
He was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded a Medal of Commendation.
He was the owner and president of Metro Design Center for 65 years.
He was a longtime member of Congregation Brith Sholom, Bethlehem, where he was on the board, was a president for the congregation and was a chairman of Chevra Kadisha. He was instrumental in the building of the synagogue on Macada Road.
He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans. In Boynton Beach, he served on several of the community’s boards.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kevin and his wife Mary Ellen of Upper Saucon; two daughters, Dr. Cheryl Hausman and her husband Daniel Silverman of Philadelphia and Laurie Braunstein of Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren, Kara and her husband Robert, Emily and her husband Joseph, Zach, Katie, Dan, Jake, Andrew, Lizzie, Max and Jesse; and four great-grandchildren, Ruthie, Liam, Ben-Ami and Noah.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Sidney and Monroe.
