Jean Husack

Jean Husack, 93, of Durham, N.C., formerly of Schnecksville, died Jan. 4, 2019 in the home of her son, Chris F., of Durham.

Born Nov. 3, 1925, in Schnecksville, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Perma A. (Schneck) Bachman.

She was a legislative aide for former state Rep. Paul W. Semmel, Schnecksville, for six years before retiring in 1996.

Before that, she was a secretary for Royal Eckert Inc., Allentown, for 20 years, and Union United Church of Christ, Neffs for 20 years as secretary, recording secretary and treasurer.

She formerly was treasurer of Schnecksville Grange 1684 for which she volunteered her time in many grange activities, and was a member of Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville.

Her survivors include sons Jeffrey C. (Cheryl) of Slatington, Howard A. of Macungie, Chris F. (Tiffany) of Durham; sister Althea A. Grim of Whitehall; brother Alton A. Bachman (Shirley) of Allentown; grandchildren Cameron Husack; Emily Bortner (Evan), Jennifer McGrath (Michael), Jonathan Husack, Maxwell Husack; great-grandchildren Molly and Olivia McGrath; and step-great-grandchild Kaylee Bortner.

She was predeceased by a daughter Ruth J. Andrews Dickinson and brothers Willard G. and Donald P. Bachman.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Larry E. Yeakel officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
