LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

Happy New Year!

Salisbury residents can put their Christmas trees out for collection throughout the month of January on their second pickup day. Any tree over 10 feet tall will need to be cut in half.

Welcome back, students and teachers from winter break. I hope you had a restful time off spent relaxing with family.

How did you spend your New Year’s Eve? I will most likely spend it like I always do. At home, in my jammies, nodding on and off while watching New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and wake up just in time to watch the ball drop. We are a low-key family. Some people might say boring, but that’s okay.

The Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a Stone Soup Stroll 10-11 a.m. Jan. 12. Participants will bring a vegetable, either fresh or canned to be added to a pot of soup. Then, after you hike the trails at the Sanctuary, you can enjoy a cup of soup as you chat and socialize with your fellow hikers. For more information and to register for this event, visit the website wildlandspa.org. Happy hiking!

An operations committee meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the administration building.

There will be a school board meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the administration building.

There will not be trash or recycling pickup Jan 1. Both trash and recycling will be collected Jan. 4.

I am writing this on my sister’s birthday, so my quote will be from our favorite show, Downton Abbey.
