Lower Macungie Library will host “A Toast to the ‘20s” 7:30–9:30 p.m. Feb. 22. Appetizers, desserts and wine coupled with the sounds of the Red Hot Ramblers from Philadelphia will make for an enjoyable evening. Travel back to the 1920s as the library is transformed into a Speakeasy. No need to knock on the door or know the password to enter. There is a charge; all proceeds benefit the library. The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. March 4 to discuss “Next Year in Havana” by Chanel Cleeton. The book for April 1 is “A Spool of Blue Thread” by Anne Tyler.

The teen advisory board for students in grades six through 12 will meet 3:30-4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and March 20.

Preschool Picasso for children ages 3-5 years will meet 10:30 a.m. Feb. 24. The program includes a story and a more complex creative project.

A cross-stitch heart adult craft night will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Each participant will be able to sew their own heart ornament.

There will be a Leap Into Science! program for children ages 3-10 years 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 29. There will be different science stations.

Creation Station for ages 2 years and up will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 9. There is a different project every month.

The next Friends of the Library meeting will be 10 a.m. March 21 in the library. Spring book sale donations will be accepted at the library through March 28. The library will not accept textbooks, VHS and cassette tapes, magazines, outdated medical or travel books and dirty or damaged books.

The spring book sale dates are member preview night 5-7:30 p.m. April 30; public sale 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 1-2.

The Church of the Good Shepherd located at 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will host its annual spring bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14. There will be crafts, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, food and a bake sale.

The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present “Hello, Dolly” 7 p.m. March 18, 19, 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. March 21 and 22. There will be a Gold Card preview performance 6 p.m. March 17. Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Emma! A Pop Musical” 7 p.m. March 26, 27, and 28 and 2 p.m. March 28.

Eyer Middle School will present “Disney’s Mulan Jr.” 7 p.m. March 12, 13 and 14 and 2 p.m. March 14.

Lower Macungie offers garden plot rentals on Bogie Avenue only this year. Those who rented plots last year at Camp Olympic or Bogie Avenue can renew their plot rental for 2020 through Feb. 28. Starting March 2, plots are available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact the community center for more information.

There will be a One Man (and one Dog) Comedy Show with John Hadfield and Reggie 2-3 p.m. March 8 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. Advance registration is recommended.

The Ancient Oaks Women’s Organization will next meet 7 p.m. March 4 at St. Paul’s UCC in Trexlertown. There will be a counselor speaking on “Getting Unstuck From Various Situations in our Lives.” All women of Ancient Oaks are always welcome to join the meetings on the first Wednesday of the month.

The Bartholomew Center for Preservation of Lower Macungie History, located at Camp Olympic, is open 1-4 p.m. every Sunday unless there is an event elsewhere.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon March 2 and 16 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

The Lower Macungie Township Community Center offers a number of activities. Adult classes include belly dancing, card making, baking, writing, meal prep and Latin partner dance. Adult exercise classes include tai chi, yoga, Pilates, barre, metabolic conditioning and balance. Youth classes include Safesitter, Kindermusik, multi-sport skills, toddlers and tutus, pre-ballet, soccer and cooking.

The winter yard waste hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. through February. In March and April, the site will also be open noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off.
