Bridgeway Academy celebrates 30 years

Bridgeway Academy, 334 Second St., Catasauqua, celebrated its 30th anniversary Oct. 1 with cake, photos, stories and fun.

The company offers home school programs and curriculum, programs for home education, online home schooling programs and more. Some of the biggest attractions to this style of schooling are the flexibility and fully accredited programs.

Jessica Morris, vice president of sales and marketing, noted many who use the programs are young actors, athletes and musicians who travel often for work. Standard schooling is likely not an option for these students, and Bridgeway offers opportunities for these youths to continue their education.

The company was founded in 1989. According to CEO Jessica Parnell, the business began in her parent’s basement and has grown over the past 30 years. She noted more than 30,000 students have gone through the program.

Bridgeway Academy currently has a staff of approximately 65 people.

While most of the staff works remotely, the Second Street building houses the corporate offices, sales and marketing, finance and IT departments.

The anniversary celebration featured lunch and a cake baked by Sarah Durkin, of Sweet Valley Treats. Durkin also works as a marketing coordinator for Bridgeway.

After treating the employees at the event to a trivia game celebrating the company’s history, Parnell thanked everyone present for their contributions to the growth and success of the business.

“We have these passionate educators who love their students and want to make a difference,” she said. “We have the perfect team for what we do.”

Catasauqua Mayor Barbara Schlegel attended the event and presented Parnell with a certificate of recognition.

“Thank you for choosing Catasauqua,” Schlegel said. “I hope you stay another 30 years.”

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” Parnell noted.
